Today I have been reminiscing about LJ with my friend Eloise, and so I thought I should write an update! I read back through some of my old posts (as I tend to do every couple of years) and cringed so much, but also wish that I had kept up writing a diary after 2005-6, as it is very entertaining and enlightening to read back through it.

It's been four years since I last updated. In that time I got made redundant, moved to Norwich, made a whole new group of friends, studied nursing for three years and I'm now a qualified staff nurse on a surgical ward here. It's a tough, busy, tiring job but I love it and I actually think I'm starting to get good at it. I've only been qualified since January; I have never experienced a learning curve as steep as the jump from student nurse to qualified staff nurse. The last few months have been a whirlwind but I'm learning to better prioritise my workload and actually manage to deliver some good care to my (many) patients. When I get into work 95% of the time I know what I'm doing!

In the four years since I last updated...my relationship is going strong! So strong in fact that we are getting married next year. We went to Iceland over new years and he proposed as the fireworks were going off all around us at midnight. We are getting married on the 7th May 2016 and I'm in full Pinterest wedding planning mode! Our wedding date is significant as it'll be ten years (minus one day!) since we first met. It may be cheesy as hell but I knew when I met him that one day I would marry him! Circumstances got in the way but we got together eventually and are happy and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

Since 2011 I have been to Iceland four times, Dublin once and Tunisia once. Even whilst I was a student nurse my partner supported us so well and saved so hard that we were able to have lovely trips away. Two of the Iceland trips were with friends and two were just the two of us. Amazing country. Tunisia last year was fantastic too, and we are going to Tunisia again later this year for eleven nights.

On Thursday after I work a late shift we are going to Devon to see my parents and then on to Cornwall on Saturday. Simon's parents have paid for the whole family (The two of them, his sister, her husband and two children, his brother, his partner and their daughter, and us two!) to stay in this ginormous villa near Falmouth. It has five bedrooms, a pool and a hot tub and we get to stay there for a week! I have a feeling it's going to be quite a loud week but I'm sure it will be fun. I can't wait to see my Mum and Dad, I don't think I've seen them since August last year. The weather is meant to be nice next week so hopefully it will be a good week.
